                                                                     Thief Caught!

Finally, the Highway Rat was caught out for his unkind actions. The amazing duck managed to save her friends and convinced the rat to go in the long, gloomy cave. The animals can now all live safe and not worry about their food. As for the Highway Rat, he now lives his life sweeping the cake shop floor and the only food he gets are the crumbs off the floor. Well done to the clever duck.

Phonics

What's in the box
Pick 6/8 toys out of your toy box and pop them into an empty box or under a blanket. Take a toy out 1 at a time and use your phonics to write down the name of your toy, see how many you can spell correctly using your phonic knowledge.

English

Write a book review for the Highway Rat. What did you like/dislike about the story, and why? Is there anything you would have changed about it?  See my example below;
The Highway Rat is a baddie. He sits on the highway or the road through the mountains and he robs the people of all their food, even if he doesn’t like it. Even the leaves the ants are carrying, the Highway Rat takes it all. He’s so bad that he steals his own horses hay.

A duck is on the road with no food and so the Highway Rat is going to eat the duck, but the duck finds a smart way to outsmart the Rat. It like the ending because the rat is taught a lesson. I did not like the Rat’s actions in the story but I wouldn’t change it because the it all worked out in the end.

Here is the parent version (without the phonetic spelling)
I woke up this morning feeling sad because I was fed up. My house was tiny and it made me feel sad. It is so small I cannot do anything. My house is a squash and a squeeze. An old wise man who had a long, white beard asked me what the matter was so I told him. The man told me to take in my hen so I did. It made a mess and it made my house feel even smaller. It knocked my jug ova. Then he told me to take in my goat so I did. The goat smelt really bad. How horrible! The goat chewed my beautiful curtains. So far I am having an awful day.
