Beacon Early Education Programme (BEEP) Enhanced Transition
Fortnightly fun-filled sessions, starting after the Easter half-term, which provide a range of information and allow your little one to become familiar with the environment and meet the other children who will be in their class. They will receive something to take home at the end of each session. Children that attend a select number of sessions will be provided with a free book bag in July.
What is BEEP?
Our BEEP (Beacon Early Education Programme) runs throughout the Summer Term to support a smooth and confident transition into school. Children attend 1½-hour sessions every fortnight, each focusing on a different area of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). These sessions help children become familiar with key learning experiences while parents receive practical information and guidance. To reinforce learning at home, every session includes a take-home activity for children, ensuring a positive and well-prepared start to school life.
Why do we run BEEP?
Children joining our school come from up to eight different nurseries, and not all attend on the days when traditional transition visits are arranged. This means we don’t always get the chance to know children and their families as well as we’d like before they start school. BEEP provides extended opportunities to build those relationships and helps us identify any additional support a child may need early on. By running this enhanced transition program, we ensure every child feels confident and prepared for their new learning journey.
Impact of BEEP
The BEEP program has had a significant positive impact on school readiness. It has helped us build strong relationships with children and parents before the start of term, ensuring children are familiar with their classroom and daily routines. As a result, there is less anxiety on the first day, and many children have already formed friendships, creating a supportive environment from the outset. Additionally, any required support strategies can be implemented immediately, allowing every child to thrive from day one.

"My child has really enjoyed these sessions and always looks forward to the next one. I have already seen the difference in his confidence. He even called his teacher over today to tell her something which a few weeks ago would of never happened. "These sessions, along with the sessions in my child's homes, helped put my mind at ease as a parent that he will not be the invisible child at school and that he will enjoy the start of his school journey. I have the opportunity to work in a number of different schools and highlighted to them about the positive impact this has had on the start my child's school journey. Thank you for taking the extra time to hold these sessions"
"The different activities available to promote children's development and the different staff members getting involved and getting to know the children. Warm and welcoming. The different times so people can attend a least one at some point. And the treats at the end have been special to my child"
"It was lovely because it has gave the children a bit of time to get to know each other and they have already made friends before starting"
